Tommi: unfortunately I have no way to know the BIOS's idea of my CPU's temperature because my laptop's BIOS setup does not display this information. However, it's very unlikely that this is a BIOS bug because neither 2.6.17-ubuntu nor 2.6.21-vanilla (which I'm using at the moment) exhibit this behaviour.
