** Description changed:

  all sound in ubuntu desktop works.
  
  kde sound works in kde.
  
  spoke with maco on IRC,
  
  in paudioucontrol I turned off the High Definiton audio, and sound
  turned on for all applications in KDE.
  (chromium/firefox/flash/wine/steam)
  
  it appears that KDE does not detect if sound jacks are plugged in or
  not.
  
  it would make sense to use the internal audio device by default.
  
  
  note: this system was upgraded from 11.04, and that from 10.10... and I had a 
PPA version of KDE before.
