Public bug reported:

After the external monitor is used, closing laptop lid causes the
constant blinking of the "Sleep" LED (Thinkpad R61) but the laptop fails
to go to standby. I am using the opensource nvidia graphics driver with
3D capabilities enabled. The closed source driver from nvidia does not
produce such behaviour. The system is oneiric ocelot (but the behaviour
was the same on natty).
