Is that the bug that had to do with attempt to disable wifi, didn't 
actually disable it ? I I had that issue too, so I killed nm-applet. 
But, if I remember correctly (unfortunately I am not very sure), VPN did 
still work even when I killed nm-applet.

Anyways, I did run nm-applet now, and the VPN does work.
