Public bug reported:

After upgrading ia32-libs to 20090808ubuntu25 and installing ia32-libs-
multiarch, 3D apps (e.g. Civ4) under Wine no longer work in Oneiric.

I get this message printed to the console:

  err:winediag:X11DRV_WineGL_InitOpenglInfo Direct rendering is
disabled, most likely your OpenGL drivers haven't been installed
correctly

Without ia32-libs-multiarch and its dependencies, I get a different
error, but 3D apps still do not work.
