I have the same problem and tried both this:

"I noticed the bug #847782 and removed the "auto eth0" entry from my
/etc/network/interfaces."

and this:

"In my case, this behavior went away as soon as I tried the fix in
comment #9 for bug #811441. For me, this was just a symptom that the
system could not communicate with dbus."

but my problem is not fixed. 
I have now used a workaround: I edited /etc/init/failsafe.conf and changed the 
sleep numbers.
