Could you create a new bug report and upload /etc/X11/xorg.conf /var/log/Xorg.0.log and also add the output of ls -al /lib/linux-restricted-modules Can you also indicate whether you have ever tried to manually install the nvidia binary drivers or used a 3rd party non Ubuntu provided tool to do so and then post a link to your new bug report in this bug.
