My system freeze too with a nvidia Geforce 7500 LE ( Asustek ). I have test all accelerated drivers and the only way to no freeze is booting with particular parameters and disabling use of enhanced cpu instruction set of nvidia-settings.
Reproduce the freeze is simple on my computer Fujitsu Scaleo Pa 1514-P4202 with Asustek M2R-FVM motherboard amd64x2 4200+ : Install Feisty Fawn, install nvidia-glx with restricted drivers menu and reboot, system freeze without 5 minutes or test all screensaver, system freeze at the middle of the screensaver list.
