Public bug reported: When exiting Firefox using the menu File --> Quit Unity crashes, the entire screen goes blank for about 30 seconds and Unity restarts. This has occurred several times, seemingly after running firefox for extended periods of time. No error message is presented.
Other times, when exiting Firefox, the firefox process does not seem to stop or takes an extended length of time to stop and am unable to launch a new instance of firefox. Description: Ubuntu oneiric (development branch) Release: 11.10 Ubuntu 11.10 beta 2 unity: Installed: 4.16.0-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 4.16.0-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 4.16.0-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages firefox: Installed: 7.0~b6+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 7.0~b6+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 7.0~b6+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages I expect firefox to successfully and cleanly close down when quiting. Instead firefox does not close down cleanly. Rather: 1. It crashes unity 2. The process fails to stop. ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/857338 Title: Unity crahses when quiting firefox To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/857338/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
