I've installed Oneiric yesterday, and I too have a problem with Alt+F2
(run a command). What I've noticed is sometimes when I press Alt+F2 and
Dash prompt pops up at the top, it says 'Search' in the input textbox,
other times it says 'Run a command' (and when this happens it actually
runs the command I type in).

It seems you can get the 'Run a command' like this:

- press Alt+F2
- if the 'Run a command' prompt appears, then everything is fine, just type the
command and it will run
- if 'Search' appears, click on the 'Search Application' button at the bottom
(second button after the 'Home' icon)
- press ESC
- press Alt+F2 again, now 'Run a command' will appear, type in the command and
that's it
