Indeed, that's not the right file, and hasn't been in forever.

The file you're looking for in /var/log/syslog, but I'm not sure how
much that will help now that some time has gone by since the crash. See
if you can get the logs for July 30th in /var/log/syslog files (probably
the .gz by now). If not, don't worry about it, the stack trace is fairly
clear. :)

What might be more helpful is to know whether you've seen this crash
again since the time this bug was reported; I think it might well have
been fixed in a new release since.
