Same problem here: installed Ubuntu 10.10 on USB with startup creator, got this message almost immediately!
Tried the workaround, so was able to do a clean apt-get upgrade, but still have: ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get upgrade Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done The following packages have been kept back: cups linux-generic linux-headers-generic linux-image-generic 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 4 not upgraded. Are there any solutions to this? Had to install 10.10 instead of 11.4 due to bugs in casper and 11.4... thanks -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/667578 Title: Kernel Upgrade on 10.10 Live USB runs update-grub To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/casper/+bug/667578/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
