Removing backward compatibility for OSS legacy apps is a very stupid
thing to do...

You can see here some of the disadvantages of free software, where decision 
makers and developers
do not need to care about their user base, as it does not make any difference 
to them sale-wise...

My little adventure with Ubuntu is nearing its end...

I wonder if Mint is any better?
