It's currently recommended practice to compress logs, though; every logrotate.d/ file that I have uses it.
If the logs are large, the compression saving is quite significant (it's text, after all), and if the logs are very small, the I/O and CPU effort hardly matter? So I'm closing this as "wont fix" right now. However, if you object, I'm fine with reopening it. ** Changed in: apport (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/840304 Title: /etc/logrotate.d/apport should not have compress option To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/840304/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
