Public bug reported:

When I start the player in Oneiric, Beta 1, the Menubar seems to
disappear, but in throws a thick black shadow. My impression is, that
the player-window is displayed over the menubar, compressed to a height
of 1 pixel or so.

The indicator icon appears, but doesn't respond to the "quit"-command.

At the same time, the GUI gets increasingly unresponsive until I kill the
vlc-thread from tty1

starting vlc --reset-config from the terminal didn't help.

This may be a local issue, as my upgrade experience was a bit harsh.
Almost everything works now, but I can't be sure if it was vlc or me while
upgrading, that caused the error.
