Hi Callum, you won't like to hear this but it sounds like you have two separate bugs. The backlight issue you just mentioned is a legitimate issue (but probably kernel or power manager rather than xorg), however the bug report you filed was triggered by a 'false GPU lockup', which means that your graphics card experienced a momentary lockup during boot, but was able to recover from it and continue on.
We've gotten quite a few GPU lockup bug reports, and since you didn't mention the other bug you're having, I've duped a bunch of these other false GPU lockup bug reports to this one. So, I would recommend that you create a new bug report for the backlight issue, so that we can handle that as a higher severity bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/828684 Title: [i965gm] False GPU lockup EIR: 0x00000010 PGTBL_ER: 0x00000100 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver/+bug/828684/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
