Yes these are the steps I did before, managed to blacklist those two
firewire modules, this are not loaded anymore after reboot (checked this
with lsmod | grep firewire)  but the Suspend and Hibernation does not
work for me, I still have the same issue, system hangs and is unable to
recover.

My laptop is a Sony Vaio VPCY2
