Hi I get a similar error on the an intel ich7 as well. In my case though the raid partition appears after the ALERT! message, saying something like
check root= bootarg cat /proc/cmdline or missing modules, device : cat /prc/modules ls /dev ALERT! /dev/mapper/ /dev/mapper/isw_bbfdjggjhj_HDDRAID6 does not exist. Dropping to shell. When I then type dmraid -ay followed by Ctrl-D into the shell, the systems boots normally. I got rid of this error adding a 'udevsettle --timeout=10' at the end of /usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/init- premount/udev as proposed in Bug #83231. Unfortunatly it takes about 5min for the system to boot now. During the boot process it says something about doing a SOFTRESET. After initializing all devices again it does find the raid drives and boots normally (i guess...). So now I am not sure if this problem concerns dmraid itself or maybe even the SATA drivers. Did anyone else encounter this problem?
