I wanted to say more about the last screenshot I posted, but I
accidentally hit "enter". What I meant to say is that the second
screenshot shows the "Write" window that appears when you click the
"Write" button to create a new email overlayed onto the main Thunderbird
window. You can see that the window contents are shifted outside the
boundary of the window. It was impossible to close this window by
clicking the x button because it was not visible and the area where it
should have been did not seem to be receiving the click events or did
not have input focus (sorry if this explanation sounds asinine but I am
not sure how the z-ordering works in X11).
