For me reverting to an older kernel did seem to help. I don't recall
ever having seen the problem with the older kernel.

The problem is somewhat intermittent - sometimes I can get it to wake up
cleanly - other times it won't. It seems like I have better luck if I
use the keyboard instead of the mouse to get the thing to wake up, but I
haven't looked into this in a systematic way, so that might be a red
herring.
