The original report says that this was with Kubuntu. Are the minimal
memory requirements for a kubuntu install different than for an ubuntu
install?  There were certainly reports at release time of 512MB being
sufficient for an Ubuntu desktop install.  Are the requirements
different on real hardware vs. a VM?  Is this using the 'Install' or
'Try' boot option?  Is it only reproducible with manual partitioning?
Does the manual partitioning selection include allocating swap space?
