Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Package: openoffice.org
Architecture: i386
Version: 2.2.0-1ubuntu3

This is an Intel dual core 2 box, nvidia 7600GS.

I opened a fresh calc using Applications / Office / OpenOffice.org Spreadsheet.
Calc appeared as expected. Then I clicked on the "File" menu. It froze the
system instantaneously.
The keyboard was dead, the screen was frozen (nothing moving, not even the load
and network applets, nor the clock).
The only part alive was the mouse. I was able to move the cursor, it was choppy
though. Mouse clicks produced nothing.
No way to get a console to see what's happening.
The keyboard still allowed the kernel "magic keys" (sync, umount but not boot).
So I had to boot manually using the power switch. Sync worked as no fsck of the
ext2 & ext3 partitions was performed.

Occured twice in the last few days.
The same action on the freshly rebooted system works (!?!?) so it's not easy to
reproduce.
I don't know if it's only a X lockup or something deeper in the kernel.

This is bad but difficult to troubleshoot. Nothing in /var/crash,
nothing in the logs either.

** Affects: openoffice.org (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
