Same bug with an Adata CH11 1 TB USB 3.0 hard disk connected to a USB
2.0 port:

$ udisks --detach /dev/sdb
Detach failed: Error detaching: helper exited with exit code 1: Detaching
device /dev/sdb
USB device: /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb1/1-4)
SYNCHRONIZE CACHE: FAILED: No such file or directory
(Continuing despite SYNCHRONIZE CACHE failure.)
STOP UNIT: FAILED: No such file or directory

$ sudo sg_start --stop --verbose /dev/sdb
    Start stop unit command: 1b 00 00 00 00 00
start stop unit: Fixed format, current; Sense key: Illegal Request
 Additional sense: Invalid command operation code
command not supported
START STOP UNIT command failed

Does anybody know a workaround that would make the hard disk spin down
so it can be safely disconnected?
