Public bug reported: Hi, the kde desktop freezes lately quite often. i cannot reproduce the problem exactely, but it looks like the problem only occures, when i resize a window. kde desktop effects are enabled. the kde log also contains some strange messages:
QInotifyFileSystemWatcherEngine::addPaths: inotify_add_watch failed: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden QFileSystemWatcher: failed to add paths: /tmp/2100011616/.config/ibus/bus (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to allocate 2D engine (EE) NVIDIA(0): *** Aborting *** (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to allocate 2D objects (EE) NVIDIA(0): *** Aborting *** (EE) NVIDIA(0): Error recovery failed. (EE) NVIDIA(0): *** Aborting *** [mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop. i am using the binary proprietary nvidia drivers. i have attached the kdm log in this mail. if you need more information tell me. cheers, andy ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: xorg 1:7.6+4ubuntu3.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-10.46-generic 2.6.38.7 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-10-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia .proc.driver.nvidia.gpus.0: Error: [Errno 21] Ist ein Verzeichnis: '/proc/driver/nvidia/gpus/0' .proc.driver.nvidia.registry: Binary: "" .proc.driver.nvidia.version: NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 270.41.06 Mon Apr 18 14:53:56 PDT 2011 GCC version: gcc version 4.5.2 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.5.2-8ubuntu4) Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: kwin CurrentDmesg: Error: command ['sh', '-c', 'dmesg | comm -13 --nocheck-order /var/log/dmesg -'] failed with exit code 1: comm: /var/log/dmesg: Permission denied Date: Sat Jul 30 18:22:01 2011 DistUpgraded: Log time: 2011-04-29 17:18:27.446417 DistroCodename: natty DistroVariant: kubuntu DkmsStatus: virtualbox-ose, 4.0.4, 2.6.38-10-generic, x86_64: installed nvidia-current, 270.41.06, 2.6.38-10-generic, x86_64: installed nvidia-current, 270.41.06, 2.6.35-28-generic, x86_64: installed nvidia-current, 270.41.06, 2.6.38-8-generic, x86_64: installed GraphicsCard: nVidia Corporation GT216 [GeForce GT 220] [10de:0a20] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: PC Partner Limited Device [174b:2160] InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release amd64 (20101007) JockeyStatus: ERROR:root:Could not find any typelib for AppIndicator xorg:nvidia_current - NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (Proprietary, Enabled, Not in use) MachineType: FUJITSU ESPRIMO P1510 ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE= PATH=(custom, user) LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-2.6.38-10-generic root=UUID=1495c4de-9e82-4454-85c1-4c25fbd19a9b ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 Renderer: Unknown SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to natty on 2011-04-29 (92 days ago) dmi.bios.date: 04/26/2010 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: 1.23.2415 dmi.board.name: D2415 dmi.board.vendor: MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO.,LTD dmi.board.version: S26361-D2415-A10 dmi.chassis.type: 6 dmi.chassis.vendor: FUJITSU dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr1.23.2415:bd04/26/2010:svnFUJITSU:pnESPRIMOP1510:pvr:rvnMICRO-STARINTERNATIONALCO.,LTD:rnD2415:rvrS26361-D2415-A10:cvnFUJITSU:ct6:cvr: dmi.product.name: ESPRIMO P1510 dmi.sys.vendor: FUJITSU version.compiz: compiz N/A version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs 20090808ubuntu13 version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.23-1ubuntu6 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 7.10.2-0ubuntu2 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 7.10.2-0ubuntu2 version.nvidia-graphics-drivers: nvidia-graphics-drivers N/A version.xserver-xorg: xserver-xorg 1:7.6+4ubuntu3.1 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.14.0-0ubuntu4.1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.14.0-4ubuntu7.1 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau N/A ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug fonts kubuntu natty patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/818571 Title: Kde desktop freezes sometimes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/818571/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
