Got the same problem on all my sun v20z with upgradung from 8.04 to 11.04.
powernow used to work with 8.04, with 11.04 it does not, the fans are running
full speed. Kernel option noacpi did not change anything. The BIOS has no
option to set something related to ACPI and no updates are available. acpidump
on both versions are identical. powernowd is no more available, cpufreq
complains "No cpufreq supprt". For me, this is a showstopper, i probably have
to replace all hardware. This is very disappointing: ubuntu folks and kernel
folks keep blaming the BIOS - but Windows can do it on the same hardware ......
