I have the same problem with suspend to RAM, but hibernate works fine for me
(suspend to hard drive).
I have an eee PC 1000H running ubuntu 11.04 32bit. I have upgraded to 2gb RAM
but otherwise it's the usual hardware.

Suspend appears to work fine - the lights on the front go out except for the
power light which flashes to indicated its suspended.
With the power plugged in occasionally it resumes fine. However, if its left
for over 30mins or so then resume doesn't work.
On battery power the computer doesn't resume.
By not resuming I mean that the lights come on (solid power light, battery
indicator, fan spins up). But the screen never turns on (not even the back
light). The computer then sits there for about 30 seconds. After this time it
turns off. When I subsequently press the power button it boots as if its been
turned off and not resuming from suspend.
