I have a similar problem on a eee 1000H running 32bit ubuntu 11.04 Hibernate works fine for me However, standby doesn't resume. Instead the lights on the front of the laptop come on, but the screen remains black (no backlight) and after 30seconds the computer shuts down. This problems happens everytime when running on battery power but is intermittent on mains power - sometimes it resumes fine.
