I am currently working on merging ESP GhostScript into GPL GhostScript. Once the merger is completed I will make a new Ubuntu package of GPL GhostScript and remove the gs-esp from Ubuntu.
Most of the merger is already completed. I am already able to compile GPL GhostScript 8.57 with all drivers which are available in ESP GhostScript. Also the modularization of the X display driver is working.
