Hei, I have Acer Aspire 3830TG and ubuntu 11.04 (with standard settings 16.07.2011)
Downloading http://people.canonical.com/~diwic/temp/alsa-hda-dkms-acer3830tg_0.1_all.deb and installing it (sudo dpkg -i alsa-hda-dkms-acer3830tg_0.1_all.deb) and rebooting gave me sound !!!!
