Public bug reported: Currently, for compiling a Firefox extension, the recommended procedure is to start by compiling Firefox itself, which is a lengthy process.
So, my suggestion would be to supply a firefox-dev package which has the necessary header files and libraries needed for compilation of Firefox extensions. This has become necessary due to the frequent major version number changes of Firefox, which often make it necessary to compile extensions locally, when binaries are not yet available on addons.firefox.com There _is_ actually a firefox-dev package, but apart from a changelog, it is empty. ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/807544 Title: [Suggestion] Supply a firefox-dev package for easy compilation of extensions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/807544/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
