I see this problem if I using Oneiric latest daily live CD with fallback gnome session. I want prewious launch alacarte because I would like verify wwhy empty the applications menu if I using GNOME3 with fallback mode. I only installed with gnome-session-fallback package and required dependencies. The places menu is OK, only the applications menu is empty.
