I have the same problem in kubuntu feisty. I want to be able to install the official nvidia drivers, but if i remove nvidia-kernel-common package, i have to remove all this packages:
linux linux-generic linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-15-generic linux-restricted-modules-generic nvidia-glx nvidia-kernel-2.6.20-15-generic nvidia-kernel-common Because of this dependencies i can't remove nvidia-kernel-common package and install the nvidia driver that i want. I can't download a driver from nvidia site and build it myself. Please, let the users choose which nvidia driver they want to install in their PC. -- The kernel shouldn't depend on linux restricted modules https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/45699 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
