Dell Inspiron 5150 w/Broadcom BCM4306 v.2 running 11.04 in Classic mode @MasterNetra - thank you for your solution however, not only did not work, but it took my eth0 down with no way to bring it back until removing the 10.04 bcmwl-kernel-source. I was 'close' as the wireless icon showed up; still no wireless connection.
As @Tim Holy said, that this does not seem to work with the 'legacy' Broadcom BCM4306 v.2 lspci -vvnn | grep 14e4 02:02.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller [14e4:4320] (rev 02) BTW, system was working perfectly well running 10.04LTS, w/wireless and NVIDIA video card working as expected. Decided to upgrade (!) going to 10.10 first then to 11.04. After several attempts (system crashed due to problems w/NVIDIA video card (still "Drive active but not currently in use") I decided to download 11.04 (for a fresh install) losing all data I had. Worked around the NVIDIA issue by not running Unity but in Classic mode w/no effects --not sure I want to deal with grub again. Solution at http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43 and https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx#b43 - Internet access does not seem to work either. So far this migration to 11.04, dealing w/NVIDIA and the Broadcom drivers issues, has been a nightmare. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/711397 Title: package firmware-b43legacy-installer 4.178.10.4-5 failed to install/upgrade due to unsupported hardware To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/b43-fwcutter/+bug/711397/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
