On a shiny new kubuntu 7.04, trying to run from cd as a live cd:
Go in system-->administration-->network.
Select wired connection-->proprieties,
I select static ip and enter all the info for ip address and dns and gateway
and apply.
After I apply and exit, the network does not work, I check with ifconfig and
see that the IP has reverted to
a DHCP address of 192.168.0.25 and the info I entered is gone. I re-enter the
gui tool and sure enough,
it is all back to dhcp. If I use ifconfig eth0 x.x.67.242 etc... and route add
commands, I can get the
network to work.
Also, as I am using a netmask/broadcast of 255.255.240.0/x.x.79.255 , I cannot
easily get the gui tool to
accept that. Also the dns settings are lost so I have to do things by ip
address instead of name.
I have used 6.06 and 6.10 on this same network, live from the cd without major
issues, but 7.04 is
broken in this area.
