Ok, I got rid of this bug. I had installed nm-applet from the sources earlier. This caused the binary files to be located in /usr/local/sbin and /usr/local/bin. Those are earlier in my $PATH and they did not get overwritten with apt-get install --re-install NetworkManager.
So removing the old binaries from /usr/local/sbin and /usr/local/bin solved the problem for me. ** Changed in: network-manager-applet (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/747918 Title: nm-applet rejected from unity notification area To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-applet/+bug/747918/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
