Fwiw, I had the same problem, but also couldn't get things working in Windows. I updated the Intel drivers in Windows and now it works in Ubuntu. The updated drivers must be updating the firmware or something. Frustrating that one needs to update in Windows, but at least it is a plausible workaround for now.
