Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

I am running Kubuntu 6.10.
I tried to Upgrade to Feisty, first using the wizard that automatically popups
when I update repository in adept manager.
I needed to install gksu to have it working, but finally it starts.
After some initial errors due to some extra repository that appear to be
online, I disabled any non official repository, so finally the procedure starts
correctly. But when finally everything seems to work properly, an error
interrupts the upgrade and rolback any changes:
"failed to fetch
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/b/bughelper/python-launchpad-bugs_0.1.13.1_all.deb
 404 Not found".
I tried to solve the problem using the alternate cd to upgrade, choosing to
upgrade without searching for newer software via Internet.
But during the installation i still got some errors, including the one I said.
Here in order (maybe they are not exactly corresponding to the error messages,
but I tried to synthesize them):
avahi-autoipd: failed to configure: subprocess post-installation script
returned error exit status 1
kubuntu-desktop: dependencies problems: leaved not configured;

and when the package-upgrading seems to be finished:
pSorry, but package avahi-autoipd failed to install/upgrade:You can help
...repoting the bug"

and:
"Sorry, but the package update-manager failed to install or upgrade: You can
help the developers to fix the problem reporting the bug"
with the following segnalation for Launchpad:
"[apport] package update-manager failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage:
SystemError in cache.commit(): E:Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error
code (1)"

and again :
"failed to fetch
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/b/bughelper/python-launchpad-bugs_0.1.13.1_all.deb
 404 not found"
Only when I close the last error message, the program started again to rollback
the actions, undoing the upgrade.
So I think that the most important problem is with the error above; I still
don't understand why it tries to reach an Internet archive, also if choose the
"offline" mode.
Any help would be appreciated, I'll attach the "/var/log/dist-upgrade" files.
Ps:
I forgotten the latest error:
"Impossible to Install the version-upgrades:the system could be in an unusable
state. A restore procedure will now start( dpkg --configure --a)
Please report a bug against the update manager package and include the files in
/var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bugreport.
