Public bug reported:

mpeg4ip is a very old unmaintained package. All upstream development
stopped in 2007. ( http://mpeg4ip.sourceforge.net/ )

Previously, mpeg4ip was included in multiverse because of libmp4v2,
which was used by some applications to read/write MP4 file metadata.
However, the MPL license of this library meant it could not be legally
linked against GPL software without a special exception, so most
programs depending on it in fact violated its license.

(In fact, it's not even strictly MPL - it's a mess of four different
licenses - but that's not the point here.)

Now all hard dependencies on libmp4v2 have been removed from oneiric.
Seeing how having the library in the repository doesn't seem to be
useful at the moment, and following previous discussion on the ubuntu-
motu and ubuntu-devel-discuss mailing lists, I suggest removing it
altogether, along with the rest of the mpeg4ip package.

If - *if* - we need libmp4v2 in the future, we can upload a new version
from the Google Code fork ( http://code.google.com/p/mp4v2/ ), which is
still MPL, but at least actively maintained. For the time being,
however, I see no point in packaging it.

** Affects: mpeg4ip (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Confirmed

** Changed in: mpeg4ip (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Confirmed
