Hi Brian I have reinstalled 7.04 using the alternate cd (I booted from the original live cd but with no mouse it's hard to install).
OK the info I have is as follows - uname -a Linux ubuntu 2.6.50-15-generic #2 SMP Sun Apr 15 07:36:31 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux the other log files are attached which was a mission in itself (linux newbie) i've reconfigured xserver several times with different mouse settings and manually added lines to modules to load a 'driver' but it never changes the mouse doesn't work. The keyboard is fine. This seems to be quite a common error in the forums. I hope this info helps.
