Public bug reported:

I've performed a fresh install of Natty 64bit from a Live USB, both by
running the direct "Install Ubuntu" and via the LiveUSB options. I've
done both a manual partition and an automatic partition. Every time
(I've tried 4 times, at least), the install goes fine and restarts. Upon
restarting, I get the message "No bootable device -- insert boot disk
and press any key".

I went from Ubuntu 11.04 to a Windows 7 install, and now I am trying to
go back to Natty. I've looked around but I can't find anything that
seems like my situation or has worked.

** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
