The staging driver rt2870sta has reached the end of its live and will not be there anymore in oneiric. Actually both remaining Ralink staging drivers have been deleted in kernel 3.0 (which is likely the oneiric release kernel).
Newer generation Ralink hardware is now supposed to be supported by the rt2x00 project's drivers rt2800pci and rt2800usb. Among the remaining bugs in natty with rt2870 hardware + rt2800usb driver are a firmware bug (see bug 762987)and indeed powersaving related bugs. Both should already be fixed in oneiric.
