Would just like to let you know that I have exactly the same behavior - Thunderbird refuses to recognize the fact that SMTP Authentication method is set to Normal Password. I have Thunderbird compiled from sources so I don't expect any support: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.17) Gecko/20110511 Lightning/1.0b3pre Thunderbird/3.1.10
