I receive same error on ASUS N53JF using 11.04 AMD64, clean install. The panel at top right corner no longer loads.
That error occurs when choosing ubuntu classic at login. Problem doesn't seem to appear if Unity GUI loaded. At first glance doesn't appear to be related to bug #716714. In hopes of a correction I updated to proposed kernel 2.6.38-9 with accompanying gnome and x updates on May 29. Error remains. I uninstalled Ubuntu-desktop in tty and reinstalled without any success in error correction.
