Shortly: it seems this bug is solved only when I install both -
xserver-xorg-video-vesa_1.3.0-1ubuntu4.2_i386.deb and xserver-xorg-
core_1.2.0-3ubuntu7.4_i386.deb packages from
http://users.tkk.fi/~tjaalton/dpkg/ :)

Details: I just tested on Fujistu Amillo 1650G laptop with ATI Technologies Inc
ATI Radeon XPRESS 200M 5955 (PCIE) video card. Ubuntu Feisty final boots fine
(with default mode 1280x800) with ati driver, but doesn't boot if I change
Driver "ati" to Driver "vesa".
But when I install xserver-xorg-video-vesa_1.3.0-1ubuntu4.2_i386.deb and
xserver-xorg-core_1.2.0-3ubuntu7.4_i386.deb packages from
http://users.tkk.fi/~tjaalton/dpkg/ then X starts fine (1024x768) even with
vesa on that laptop ;)

NOTE: vesa works only when *both* packages - xserver-xorg-video-
vesa_1.3.0-1ubuntu4.2_i386.deb and xserver-xorg-
core_1.2.0-3ubuntu7.4_i386.deb are installed, when I install just one of
them (for example just xserver-xorg-video-
vesa_1.3.0-1ubuntu4.2_i386.deb) then X doesn't start with vesa driver.
