I have also been affected by this. My natty installation was working fine with the on board GPU on my HP dx2450. However i added the Nvidia Quadro NVS290 to support my higher res monitor and eventually move to a dual display configuration. The new card works fine and appears in the nVidia X-server settings panel, but freezes unpredictably requiring a reboot quite frequently. There doesnt seem to be a pattern, although awaking from the screen saver was a reliable trigger ("blank screen" doesnt appear to cause problem however). Other activities that cause the freeze appear to be quite random.
