It seems reasonable to me, although I personally only have Debian systems
and hence don't directly do Ubuntu development.  But it definitely seems
like a reasonable target.

1.6.0pre5-2 should be fairly solid (I'm using it myself), but there are
some additional fixes in the 1.6.0pre6 release that upstream is currently
working on.
