Public bug reported: Binary package hint: thinkfan
Hello, thinkfan in Ubuntu Natty doesn't support the new temperature sensors. By default, it tries to read /proc/acpi/ibm/thermal, which is not provided by the thinkpad_acpi kernel module in Natty an longer. Instead, coretemp kernel module is required, and the following lines need to be added to /etc/thinkfan.conf: sensor /sys/devices/platform/coretemp.0/temp1_input sensor /sys/devices/platform/coretemp.2/temp1_input sensor /sys/devices/virtual/hwmon/hwmon0/temp1_input I found this information at http://thinkpad-wiki.org/Thinkfan Greetings, jonas ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: thinkfan 0.7.1-2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue May 24 18:54:25 2011 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release amd64 (20110426) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=de:en LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: thinkfan UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: thinkfan (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug natty running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/787697 Title: thinkfan doesn't find temperature sensors -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
