As far as I can tell, the bug about display not being correct (as reported by 
suprit and chester) is in no way related to ddccontrol.
The original bug (missing configuration for a given monitor in the ddccontrol 
db) might still be present, since none of the maintainers of the project have 
time to do the grunt work of adding them.
But maybe I am missing something. For example I don't know if the failed to 
read EDID error is due to ddccontrol, or to a problem in some kernel module.
