Tested other notebook NC6000. Similar result. I was not able to finish transfer of CD image (700MB file) from notebook to NFS server in local LAN. It proves some problem with network driver.
I can start Linux at HP NC6000. But there are more issues: - Ethernet adapter driver issues, network hangs when notebook sends load - SD card slot is not supported. There is a SD slot on the notebook, probably handled by O2micro chip on the motherboard (chip for cardbus?). - 3D Graphics issues. ATI9600 with 32MB ram is on motherboard. But the card has a problems with Accelerated desktop (like Unity). 2D Graphics runs OK. - button to disable wireless networks disables only Bluetooth. WiFi is not disabled. Under Windows, WiFi and Bluetooth can be enabled/disabled with the same button. NC6000 is nice notebook; designed in 2005. Do you want to run Linux at HP NC6000? Think again, there are better notebooks for Linux... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/784460 Title: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme Ethernet adaptor is not reliable -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
