Same problem with unusable KMS on Compaq Presario 906US (CPU: Athlon XP-M 2600+, Graphic: ATI Mobility Radeon VE/IGP 320M, SB: ALi 1535+)
Problem: Booting of Lucy/Maverick/Natty Live-CD works nicely through hi-res splashscreen and/or ESC boot-messages until switch to Desktop is happening --> black screen with operational mouse pointer. When then switching to a console and back via Ctrl-Alt-F7, the contents of previous console window remains visible, mouse pointer still operational.
